According to Newsday, New York Mets closer Billy Wagner has a torn MCL in his left elbow and will have season ending surgery. Wagner will miss the remainder of 2008, and he’s in danger of missing most of the 2009 season as well.
Wagner, who turned 37 in July, has one season left on his four-year, $43-million contract and the Mets hold an $8-million option for 2010.
