Mets Give 4 Year Extension to Minaya
According to Buster Olney, the New York Mets have signed General Manager Omar Minaya to a four year extension - which seems to be a vote of confidence. The deal is all but done says Olney, but no time table has been set to make the announcement.
Quoth Minaya after Tuesdays game:
“I have a very good relationship with Jeff and I think that he enjoys working with me,” Minaya said. “We’ll sit down and talk.”
Nice way to skirt around it Omar. Am I the only one thinks that this is a bit premature on the Wilpons part? The Mets are a game and a half behind NL East leading Philadelphia Phillies and only a game up on the Brew Crew in the Wild Card.
Wouldn’t it be more prudent to wait and see if the club is even going to reach the playoffs? Because at this point with five games remaining nothings a given as they proved last season.
